What Is LASIK?

LASIK surgery is a laser vision correction method that permanently corrects refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Many people who get LASIK surgery are able to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. LASIK is safe, quick, and highly effective.

Who Can Get LASIK?

LASIK is popular, but unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate. To be a candidate for LASIK surgery, you must be:

  • Over the age of 18
  • Free of eye disease and certain diseases that indirectly affect the eyes
  • Not pregnant or nursing
  • Have had a stable glasses or contact lens prescription for at least one year

You may need to meet other requirements depending on the surgeon you go to. Before you can determine whether or not you are a LASIK candidate, you will need to see us for a LASIK consultation!

During your LASIK consultation, our surgeons will ask you a series of questions and examine your eyes to make sure you are a good LASIK candidate. If all goes well, you can schedule your LASIK surgery date!
